Shelly Bend

Shelly joined Trident Trust in 2015, as the first in-house legal advisor in Trident’s BVI office. She quickly became Trident BVI’s General Counsel and was appointed to the Board of Directors of Trident BVI in 2018. Since 2021, Shelly has been a member of Trident’s leadership team in the Caribbean, focusing initially on providing legal, regulatory and governance support to the various Caribbean offices in her role as Regional Legal Director.  She sits on the boards of several of Trident Trust’s Caribbean offices and is now the Regional Director of Strategy.

Immediately prior to joining Trident Trust, Shelly worked in a boutique law firm in the BVI, with experience in civil litigation and corporate and commercial non-contentious work. She was also a member of the Barbados Foreign Service for 10 years.

Shelly is a qualified lawyer, called to the Bar in Barbados, the BVI and St Kitts and Nevis and holds post-graduate and professional qualifications in management, compliance, mediation, and arbitration. Shelly is also a qualified trust and estates practitioner and was one of two recipients of the 2017 STEP Worldwide Excellence Award.
